| dc.description.abstract | Objective : To analyze the evolution and trends of the study on the effectiveness of Animal Assisted Interventions (AAI) in the reduction of depressive symptoms, by means of a documentary review. Methodology : A bibliometric and documentary review was carried out using the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases, using terms related to animal - assisted interventions and depression. After a filtering process, 50 relevant articles were analyzed. Tools such as B iblioshiny (Bibliometrix in R) and Tree of Science were used to identify trends, authors, journals and conceptual networks in scientific production. Results : Scientific production on AAI and depression has shown a sustained growth in the number of publications and the participation of recognized journals and authors in the area. The results are segmented into 3 classic, structural and recent studies, which have explored the effectiveness of AAT yielding plausible results in the reduction of depressive symptoms and loneliness, positive impact on emotional regulation, social interaction and psychological well - being in the population of diverse contexts and age groups. Conclusion : The scientific evidence supports the value of AAI and AAT as an adjunct in the treatment of depression in adults, being associated with improvements in psychological well - being, quality of life and reduction of depressive symptoms. | |
