Abstract
Cannabis sativa is a substance that, due to its psychoactive properties, can produce dependence thanks to its effects on the circuit of pleasure mediated by dopamine, and affects different cognitive processes after consumption; this is because it acts on endocannabinoid receptors of anandamide, endogenous substance acts on hippocampal neurons mediated by inhibitory neurotransmitters such as GABA and excitatory such as glutamate, thus generating altera tions in memory, especially in the short term. This level of memorization is influenced by the difficulties in the attention given that when consuming cannabis, its tetrahydrocannabinol compound is assimilated as the organic chemical anandamide, and this substitution generates modifications in the processing of information by altering the production of these neurotransmitters. Following the literary review carried out, it is found that after prolonged cannabis use there is significant memory impairment, it is then decided to evaluate the immediate memory in a subject with continuous cannabis use for approximately 3 years by some subtests of the Scale. of Wechsler's Memory (WMS IV), from which it was found that the individual has an alteration of the immediate memory, in addition, there was slowness in his behavior, which is called as amotivational syndrome and is a characteristic aspect after the consumption of marijuana that seems to be determined by alterations in the prefrontal areas in charge of executive functions; for this reason it is considered important to evaluate executive studies in future cannabis users.
