Abstract
This research addresses the challenge of elementary school students' disconnection from intangible cultural heritage (ICH), specifically myths and legends. The central problem lies in the fact that traditional teaching methods fail to generate effective identity appropriation and lasting interest among students. The main objective was to design and prototype a card game titled "Leyendas Enojadas," which uses gamification and humor as didactic tools to promote meaningful and playful learning of oral heritage. The methodology was based on the "Design Thinking" cycle, which included an ethnographic immersion phase with teachers and students to empathize with their needs. A fundamental pillar of the design was to re-theme the mechanical structure of the successful card game "Exploding Kittens," ensuring that by adapting proven game rules rather than creating them from scratch, a fun and balanced game base was guaranteed. This allowed the design effort to focus on the didactic integration of cultural content, humor, and visual art. The main finding showed that the strategic use of humor and playfulness transforms the perception of heritage, significantly increasing children's engagement and retention of cultural content. The result is a validated and functional playful artifact that establishes an effective and replicable model for heritage education in the school context.
