Papel de la revista Gloria en el estilo de vida femenino y la moda en Medellín en los años cuarenta

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza el papel que tuvo la revista Gloria, publicada por Fabricato en 1947, en la construcción del estilo de vida femenino y la moda en Medel lín durante los años cuarenta. A través de un enfoque cualitativo y un análisis hermenéutico de tres secciones de las ediciones de 1948 y 1949, se interpretan los mensajes e imágenes que la revista difundió sobre la feminidad. También se realizaron entrevi stas para comprender la percepción de la publicación dentro del contexto textil y social de la época. Los hallazgos muestran que Gloria promovió un modelo de mujer moderna en la apariencia y el consumo, pero tradicional en su comportamiento y rol dentro de l hogar. La moda funcionó como un lenguaje para equilibrar la modernidad industrial con las expectativas sociales sobre la mujer. Se concluye que la revista no sólo impulsó el uso de telas y tendencias, sino que también contribuyó a fijar un ideal de femin idad que mezclaba elegancia, domesticidad y disciplina estética.This work analyzes the role that Gloria magazine, published by Fabricato in 1947, played in the construction of feminine lifestyle and fashion in Medellín during the 1940s. Through a qualitative approach and a hermeneutic analysis of three sections of the 1948 and 1949 editions, the messages and images that the magazine disseminated about femininity are interpreted. Interviews were also conducted to understand the perception of the publication within the textile and social context of the time. The findings show that Gloria promoted a model of a modern woman in appearance and consumption, but traditional in her behavior and role within the home. Fashion functioned as a language to balance industrial modernity with social expectations about women. It is concluded that the magazine not only promoted the use of fabrics and trends, but also contributed to establishing an ideal of femininity that mixed elegance, domesticity, and aesthetic discipline.
