Abstract
The "Path to Freedom" project, developed at the INPEC Medium Security Penitentiary Center in Apartadó, aims to address the social and labor reintegration of former inmates. Through education and training, psychosocial support, and the creation of support networks, it tackles the high recidivism rate and reintegration difficulties exacerbated by a lack of updated skills and stigmatization. This project stems from the need to facilitate a successful transition for individuals leaving prison after serving their sentences towards an autonomous and economically independent life. By aligning with public policies and social intervention strategies, "Path to Freedom" proposes a sustainable solution that potentially reduces recidivism, improves employment opportunities, and ultimately strengthens the social fabric of the Apartadó community. This project not only impacts directly involved individuals but also significantly contributes to local security and economic development. Ultimately, the initiative is essential to address structural deficiencies that perpetuate exclusion and inequality. By providing necessary tools and support networks, this project allows ex-offenders to reintegrate successfully, thereby improving their quality of life and that of their families. In summary, "Path to Freedom" is a crucial investment in human capital that fosters inclusion and equity, fundamental pillars for the region's social and economic development.
