Abstract
Violence between partners, understanding partner as the person with whom one has an intimate bond, is a problem that has been growing significantly in recent times and has been the subject of research on several occasions, not only because it occurs more frequently, but because it has been manifesting itself at an increasingly younger age. In addition, it occurs regardless of the type of couple, without discriminating sexual orientation or the level of commitment between them, whether in marriage or cohabitation and even in dating relationships. This is why various studies have attempted to uncover the causes of this phenomenon, finding among the most relevant, the fact of having lived a situation of violence in the family of origin, which is not determinant, but significantly influences being a triggering event of this violent behavior with the partner in adulthood. Violent behavior is sometimes learned within the family and ends up leading its members to become victims or victimizers, due to the subject's psychic development and the habits that precede it, assuming them as morally normal since this type of act was explicitly in their daily life. The construction of the subject's personality is another factor that significantly influences, in this case to become a victim, even more so when there are low levels of self-esteem. External factors such as the consumption of drugs and other substances that could alter their behavior cannot be ignored.
